Draft for attorney review before BeenAboard launches. It describes how the app works today.
BeenAboard publishes reviews of private jet charter flights from people who were aboard. To do that, we need to confirm your flight happened, without showing the public who you are or exactly where you flew. This policy explains what we collect, who can see it and how to delete it.
Who sees what
Everyone
Your published reviews, shown as "Verified flyer": stars, scores, your words and video, the aircraft, and the month and region of the flight. Never your name, email, airports, exact dates or tail number.
The operator you flew with
If it manages its BeenAboard page, it may be asked to confirm your flight. It then sees your display name, the tail number, the route and the date. Never your proof or what you paid.
Moderators
To verify flights and handle reports, a moderator may look at your flights and proof, including where and when a tail photo was taken, your reviews, your display name and the reports you send.
Only you
What you paid and your pre-trip checks. A price counts, without your name, only in price ranges built from at least five verified flights.
What we collect
- Your account: your Sign in with Apple identifier, the email Apple shares with us (which can be a private relay address), and the display name you choose.
- Flights you log: tail number, airports, date, flight type, how you booked and, if you used one, the broker's name.
- Proof: tail photos taken in the app, with the time and place they were taken and the text read from the tail, and any charter agreement or invoice you add.
- What you paid, if you choose to report it.
- Reviews: ratings, scores, your words and videos. Videos are saved without the location and other details iPhone adds to them.
- Pre-trip checks you run, reports you send and accounts you block.
- For operator staff: the work email, job title and note you send when asking to manage an operator's page.
BeenAboard doesn't include advertising software and doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites.
How we use it
- To verify that a flight happened and that you were aboard. A tail photo's time and place are compared with the airport and the flight date.
- To publish your reviews in the public format above, and to build operator scores and price ranges from at least five verified flights.
- To run pre-trip checks against public FAA data.
- To moderate content, handle reports and prevent abuse.
- To provide support and meet legal obligations.
We don't sell your personal information.
Services we use
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage, on servers in the United States.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, notifications and, for Premium, payments. We never see your card details.
- Flightradar24 helps match flights. We send it the aircraft's registration and a date range, nothing about you.
- The FAA publishes the aircraft and operator records we download. We send it nothing.
Keeping and deleting your information
You can delete your account at any time in the app's Account tab. Everything personal attached to it is deleted: your profile, flights, proof, prices, checks and reviews. Files are removed from storage within a day. A tail photo's location is never shown publicly at any point.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit. Access rules in our database decide who can read what, as described above. Our staff see only what a moderator needs to verify flights and handle reports.
Children
BeenAboard is for adults. Please don't use it if you're under 18.
Your choices
You can change your display name and delete your account in the app. To ask for a copy of your information or anything else about your privacy, write to [email protected].
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
