About BeenAboard

What is BeenAboard?

An iPhone app for private jet charter reviews. Every review comes from someone whose flight we verified, so you can read what flyers thought of the operator, the aircraft and the trip before you book.

Is BeenAboard a safety rating?

No. BeenAboard publishes reviews from verified flyers and shows what public FAA records list, with the date of that data. It doesn’t rate, certify or audit operators, and it never says whether an operator or a flight is legal.

When is it coming out?

BeenAboard is coming to iPhone, and there’s no launch date to share yet. Leave your email on our home page and we’ll email you once, when it’s on the App Store.

Is there an Android app?

No. BeenAboard is an iPhone app.

Is BeenAboard part of the FAA or an operator?

No. BeenAboard isn’t affiliated with the FAA or any operator. It uses records the FAA publishes for everyone.

Reviews and verification

Who can write a review?

Anyone 18 or older who was aboard the flight. You sign in with Apple, log the flight and add proof, and your review goes live once the flight is verified. People who work for an operator or broker can’t review their own company or its competitors.

How do you verify a flight?

The fastest way is a tail photo taken in the app at the airport, around your flight date. A charter agreement or invoice checked by a moderator, flight data that matches your tail photo, or the operator’s confirmation can also verify a flight.

What if my flight can’t be verified?

The app tells you why and what to add, such as your charter agreement or a tail photo taken at the airport.

Can I edit my review?

Yes. Your changes publish right away, and the review shows “Edited” with the month.

Can I add a video?

Yes, up to 60 seconds long.

Privacy

What does the public see?

Your review, shown as “Verified flyer”: stars, scores, your words and video, the aircraft, and the month and region of the flight. Never your name, airports, exact dates or tail number.

Who can see my proof?

Only you and BeenAboard’s moderators, who look at it to verify your flight. It’s never shown publicly, and the operator never sees it.

Who sees what I paid?

Only you. If you report a price, it counts without your name in price ranges built from at least five verified flights.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, at any time in the app’s Account tab. Everything personal attached to it is deleted with it.

Operators

Can operators remove reviews?

No. Operators can reply publicly, but they can’t remove or hide a review, and no one can pay to have one removed. A moderator removes a review only if it’s abusive, fake, off-topic or shares private information, or when its author deletes their account.

How does an operator manage its page?

Someone who works for the operator asks in the app under Account → For operators, with their work email. A moderator checks that they work there before approving. They can then confirm passengers’ flights and reply to reviews.

Pricing

Is BeenAboard free?

Yes. Reading reviews, logging flights and writing reviews are free, and so is your first pre-trip check.

What does Premium include?

Unlimited pre-trip checks and price ranges built from at least five verified flights. Premium is $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, billed by Apple. You can also buy a single pre-trip check for $4.99. Prices are in US dollars at launch.

What is a pre-trip check?

Enter the tail number from your quote to see what public FAA records show: which charter certificate lists the aircraft, the operator’s names, where it’s based, and the date of the FAA data. It isn’t a safety rating.
